FILM BOOK: Le Film Vierge Pathe (1926) - An Antique Books Guide

This is my first newly-written post in a long time and it actually focuses more upon photographs than words. This time I am writing about one of the most important film books ever published. Even if you are not interested in film, take a look at the photos below- the book is truly stunning.

Printed by Pathe - the French film giant credited with the first colour film, this rare finely-bound volume was only ever printed in very limited numbers. What makes this book so special is the fact that it examines colour film techniques and development and included one hundred and seven sample film cells. Think of the book as one of the first and most comprehensive modern film books available.

The book, though in French, offers a wonderful glimpse into the techniques and methods used to produce colour film including tinting plus thee are other interesting experiments with film cells including under/ over exposure, the effect of temperature on film and various other experiments

Take a look below at this fantastic book and you will see why this is such a wonderful book regardless of the topic.

As usual all photographs are my own.
